Julie Alderson

I have had an interest in arts and crafts for as long as I can remember, having first picked up a sewing needle at the age of six.

Since then I have tried many crafts but have always found myself drawn back to all things textile.

For 6 years I was a regular contributor to British Patchwork and Quilting magazine with many of my designs and articles being inspired by the beautiful scenery on the Ross of Mull. A particularly favourite wall hanging was inspired by the stunning plumage of Oystercatchers on Fidden beach.

I love making felt and embellishing my designs with embroidery and beads. Due to the processes involved in wet felt making, no 2 pieces are ever the same.

I run a guesthouse with my husband in Fionnphort….but whenever I have spare time you will find me in my sewing room!
